Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Regulation (DOT/HMR)

This class is required for any employee who loads or unloads, transports, prepares paperwork, packages, or signs paperwork related to either DOT regulated hazardous materials or hazardous wastes. There are two versions of this class that are offered depending on the needs of the company. Both of these classes can be done on-site at the company location. This helps to minimize extra time and issues related to transportation to another training location. The first version is a 3-4 hour shorter version that covers all aspects of the DOT Regulation in a simple format. This class is designed for those companies that have limited dealings with Hazardous Materials or wastes in transportation such as medical and hospital personnel who sign for medical waste manifests, truck drivers with Hazmat, small companies with limited types of hazardous materials or wastes they are shipping. It meets all the requirements of DOT/HMR including the following: General awareness/familiarization Function-specific training Safety training Security Training Modal specific requirements The second version is a more in-depth 8 hour class that will cover all the same aspects of the regular class but in more detail. This is designed for those companies that deal with large amounts of hazardous materials or hazardous wastes or deal with a large variety of them. This includes companies such as hazardous waste haulers or clean-up contractors, large chemical manufacturers, etc. The class will spend more time going over the specifics of the regulations of both the DOT/HRM and RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) as part of the EPA regulation of hazardous wastes. The3- 4 hour version of class: $400 plus the cost of books and handouts The 8 hour version of the class: $800 plus the cost of books and handouts
