This program is a 24 hour program designed to help teach individuals and communities to be better prepared to deal with a disaster. This program was designed by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) to train individuals handle basic emergency skills during a disaster until professional help can arrive. It was first utilized in California and is now utilized throughout the country. The program trains individuals in the following areas to assist during an emergency: -Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher use -Basic First Aid -Triage and Basic treatment of victims -Search and Rescue -The individual is given some basic equipment to utilize during a disaster to help their family and their community during a major disaster Cost: $1,800 for instruction and approximate cost of $50/student for the equipment.
